Top Movie News from San Diego Comic Con (so far)!

Nerds rejoice!  It’s that wonderful time of year again:  COMIC CON!  As much as I wanted to make the trip, I couldn’t make it work with my schedule; however, The Phenomenal One is in San Diego if you Spoiling Bastards wanted to say hi!

We’re only two days in at this year’s International Comic Con, and boy, do we have a lot of crazy surprises in store.  Since the stories are overwhelming in size, I will summarize some of the biggest events as best as I can.

  • Kick-Ass 2:  The sequel to the action-packed Kick-Ass from 2010 will be making it’s way to the movie theater in August 2013!  A panel consisted of stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and Chloe Grace Moretz via satellite from her filming of The Equalizer in Boston.  Other panelists included new stars Donald Faison, John Leguizamo, and Lindy Booth.  The most surprising aspect of the panel was the unspoken:  Jim Carrey decided to distance himself from the Kick-Ass 2 panel.  Carrey plays crime-fighter Col. Stars and Stripes in the sequel; however, he made the decision to not support the R-rated film after the Sandy Hook massacre.
  • The World’s End:  The World’s End panel kicked off Friday morning’s events with Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Edgar Wright, discussing the new film and future plans.  The film due out in late August follows Gary King (Pegg) and his pals as they attempt to finish their hometown’s famous pub crawl, which involves drinking in 12 pubs and ending with the ale house titled The World’s End.  The crawl, of course, doesn’t go according to plan, and the group finds themselves in a more literal “world’s end.”  Although the film is playing in the UK, we won’t be getting the film for another month.
  • Amazing Spider-Man 2:  We get our first look at Jamie Foxx’s villain, Electro:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEHcD9XFhhA

Well, this is all I have so far!  Stay tuned for more updates from this year’s Comic Con with podcasts from The Phenomenal One and Lehew!  If you have anything else you’d like for me to add or if you want to share your thoughts, leave a comment below!
