Superman and Batman to Share the Screen in Summer 2015

This year’s International Comic Con was filled with crazy panels discussing what will be in store for us on the big screen over the next few years.  Zack Snyder took the stage at the Warner Bros. panel to announce what we can expect to see in the DC Universe on the big screen in Summer 2015.  We will be getting another Man of  Steel movie with Superman returning with another big DC hero:  Batman.  Not much information was spilled during the panel, so most of what we know will happen in the film was discussed in interviews that followed.

Henry Cavill will be returning to play Superman, along with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane returning, as well.  Christopher Nolan will also be coming back to produce the Man of Steel sequel; however, it has been confirmed that Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy does not exist in this universe, but Bruce Wayne himself does.  I hate to say it, but it looks like Christian Bale won’t be reprising his role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.  We’ll be on the lookout for the casting of the next Dark Knight.

For those of you who are looking to see a happy buddy-up film where Superman and Batman team up and save the world, stop thinking that right now.  The sequel is going to be based off of Frank Miller’s tale, “The Dark Knight Returns,” a story that shows how these two legendary characters will be at odds.  Zack Snyder has confirmed that this will not be an adaptation, but the film will run along a similar storyline.  I’m starting to think this film will go a little something like this:

The script is not yet finished, but Snyder is hoping this film will help set up for Summer 2017’s Justice League.
