“Sharknado” Thrown into Our Hearts… Sorta

This past Thursday, SyFy released their latest original masterpiece, Sharknado, which I’m still upset about missing.  For those of you who don’t know, Sharknado is a new kind of storm in which a hurricane or tornado removes sharks from the ocean and hurls them at Los Angeles residents.  Here is a Sharknado in action:

As most of you can imagine, the Internet had a filed day with this one.  Let’s talk about the inspiration for this film before getting to the gifs.  Sharknado was written by Thunder Levin (I guess we’re sticking to the ‘storm’ theme here) after production company, The Asylum (known for movie-rip-offs like Atlantic Rim available in RedBox kiosks), asked him to write a movie based off the title Shark Storm.  Their original idea was to have sharks attacking citizens during a storm, which Levin stepped away from.  About one month later, The Asylum returned, asking Levin to write a script for the retitled Sharknado with a list of notes to keep in mind.  Thus, Sharknado was born and thrown onto television screens across America for viewers like you!

And now for your amusement, let me shower you with celebrity reactions to Sharknado along with this gif: sharknado-photo-788432467.gif
